Koen's work is diverse in use of materials, style and imagery. But two themes run through all the works: the tension between ideals and reality, and the search for compassion and humanity. Form, technique and use of materials are secondary to the feelings and thoughts underlying a work. His aim is rarely to work towards a predetermined end result, but to arouse recognition in the viewer. If that succeeds, a work is successful.
Koen and Dees’ studio is located in Den Dolder on the grounds of the Willem Arntsz Hoeve. The studio is in the middle of greenery, overlooking woods and heathland. The Willem Arntsz Hoeve has great historical, cultural and ecological value.
